Berrafato Enzo & Laurent Kriegsmarine 1935-1945: History, Uniforms, Headgear, Insignia, Equipment
This 9x12 book describes and shows - in over 1000 color images - the history, uniforms, headgear, insignia, and equipment of the German Kriegsmarine between 1935 and 1945. In this work, the authors focus primarily on all the unnamed seamen who served on the minelayers, Schnellboote, minehunters, cruisers, U-Boats, and other ships. For this reason, they discovered previously unknown war-era records from private archives. The uniforms and equipment shown are originals from the period, and likewise come from private collections. This book is a must for readers who are interested in the history of the Kriegsmarine, and is a definitive reference for collectors of Third Reich-era memorabilia. 1 vol, 256 pgs

Blasi, Dr. Walter SOLDIERS ON TWO WHEELS: Motorcycles in the Austrian Army of the First Republic 1920-1938
The book has 320 pages with more than 350 illustrations and photographs and is dedicated to an unexplored chapter in Austria's vehicular history, namely the use of motorcycles in the military. It starts in 1903 with the first deployment of two-wheeled vehicles on maneuvers in the k.u.k. Army, has its main focus on the Austrian Federal Army (the Bundesheer) of the First Republic (1920-1938) and provides an insight into the acquisition and the assignment of motorcycles (also with sidecars) in the Austrian Federal Army (many well-known brands were in use, such as Puch, BMW, NSU, Harley-Davidson, James etc.).
The text is complemented by numerous contemporary photographs as well as graphics and color photographs of historical motorcycles related to the military from private collections. 1 vol, 320 pgs

Kraus, Jurgen BAYERISCHE FAHNEN: Military Flags of Bavaria
This richly-illustrated book about the military flags of Bavaria from the beginnings of the Ducal Army being in the 16th century to the end of the Royal Army in 1919. Includes 600 photos and illustrations.
The beginnings of the history of the flag are in the Landsknecht banners for the short-lived army contingents of the 16th century. Only the actual history of Bavarian field characters begins with the large army armor of the thirty years war (1618-48). That Bayern played a special role as a champion of the Catholic war party here, a great variety of religious symbols on the flags symbolically expressing.

Since the 17th century, the flag image was always marked by the blue and white colors of the House and the coat of arms of the Wittelsbach dynasty. To a change in the symbolism of the ruling elector entered with each change of Government. Because every change of ruler put the flags on his stamp, they always offered a vivid mirror image for the political transformation of this epoch.

The development of flags and standards in the context of the organization of the army is traced on the basis of traditional pieces of real and figurative representations, whose outlining certain Yes furnish with flags. Within the time periods, the field characters are separately dealt with after the arms, connected with references to their fates in campaigns or their whereabouts. Also the flag ribbons generously conferred in the 19th century and War Awards occupy a wide area.

Other sections discuss the importance of finally, which flags in the course of time as symbols in the army had their religious elevation flag orders, their role in the military life and its function as a tactical character in the fight. In this broad range the band about a pure history of field characters of the Bavarian army reaches far beyond: he gives an impressive image for three centuries Bavarian symbol and country history. 1 vol, 325 pgs

Ortner, Dr. M. Christian and Ludwigstorff, Dr. Georg AUSTRIAN ORDERS AND DECORATIONS: Part I
Two-volume work, 'Austria's Orders and Decorations - The Imperial-Royal Official Decorations up to 1918', forms the second part of a comprehensive series on imperial Austria's decorations.
In this work, the state decorations are dealt with both from a cultural-historical perspective - describing their history, purpose and significance according to the latest research data - and with regard to the pieces themselves. A richly-illustrated catalogue section with highly detailed illustrations and descriptions of each decoration give the reader an unbelievably detailed view of the range and variety of pieces produced. The result is a tract of almost 800 pages and around 3,000 high definition photographs and illustrations

While the first part dealt exclusively with the imperial orders, this second work covers the remaining wearable state-awarded decorations, their history, significance and appearance. More than 60 different decorations were endowed between the late 18th century and the end of the First World War in 1918.

They include decorations for merit in the military and civil realms, for long service, to commemorate individuals or participation in particular campaigns and wars and jubilee decorations. Presenting their history and significance, and the appearance of the decorations themselves, was quite different from dealing with the imperial orders, which were for the most part structured and organized along similar lines, having various classes or levels. The decorations awarded by the state, on the other hand, had no overall norms but were instead structured each according to its purpose. In addition, throughout their history many of the decorations went through breaks and discontinuities, which had an effect on the appearance of the decorations, the definitions of their classes and their basic ranking within the old-Austrian award system. 2 vol, 784 pgs

Tylisz, Dan NORMANDY 44: German Helmets - The Normandy Campaign
In the first volume of this new series by Militaria Magazine, collectors will discover a new aspect of helmet camouflage, focusing on the spontaneous gesture of the front-line soldier, the individuality and sometimes moving aspect of 'battlefield found' helmets.
Impressive by their historical dimension, camouflaged helmets, whether the plain result of personal initiative or produced by teams of experienced artists, often reproduce the colors and patterns applied to tanks and guns.

The wide array of more than 150 original German helmets shown here is only a glimpse of their huge variety, but it captures the general trends in WW2 German equipment camouflage. From the crude and elementary mottling with issue or civilian paints to the imaginative and complicated patterns evolved within sedentary units, the veteran soldier also completed his work by adding various texturing elements.

Most of these helmets originate from private collections and were found on the Normandy battlefield. The majority were photographed in natural light, to enhance the actual efficiency of their camouflage finish.

A must-have book for all German militaria and helmet collectors, and camouflage enthusiasts. 1 vol, 84 pgs
